Garibaldi Not A Traitor.

New York Times 100 years ago today, September 1, 1912:
Madero General Freed of Treason Charge With Nicaraguan Rebels.
Special to The New York Times.
EL PASO, Aug. 31.— Gen. Giuseppe Garibaldi, of the Maderista revolution, who was promoted to be a Brigadier General by Madero himself after the battle of Juarez, has been tried on a charge of treason at Mexico City, according to private information received here, and acquitted. Garibaldi is now in Nicaragua fighting with the rebels in command of a machine gun and sharpshooters.
Garibaldi's trouble was the result of his assuming command of the Mexican Federal forces, formed at Agua Prieta, Sonora, to proceed against Orozco, who was then operating in Chihuahua.  Gen. Blanco Sanjines and other Federal officers were envious of Garibaldi's reputation as a fighter. A report unfavorable to him was made to Mexico City, it was said, and he was summoned to the Capital.
