Colonel Amuses Wilson.

New York Times 100 years ago today, October 1, 1912:
Governor Just Laughs When He Hears He's In Ananias Club.
Special to The New York Times.
SEA GIRT, N. J., Sept. 30.— A paragraph in the day's news that interested Governor Wilson to-day was that showing that Col. Roosevelt had at last come out frankly and put the Governor in the Ananias Club. The Governor laughed heartily at what the Colonel had said about his veracity.
"Is that laugh for publication?" the Governor was asked.
"Certainly if you want to publish it," he replied, but he wouldn't explain the meaning of it.
William Barnes, Jr., of Albany also had been characterizing Gov. Wilson in the press and when the Governor read that Barnes had put him among the bosses with a rank alongside of Murphy and Roosevelt, he laughed some more.
