New York Times 100 years ago today, October 9, 1912:
TAMPICO, Mexico, Oct. 8.— Forty-three bodies, victims of the powder explosion of last night, have been recovered and buried. Most of thorn were burned and torn beyond recognition. Estimates now place the dead at 100, while the injured will total another hundred.
The Chamber of Commerce has appropriated money for the relief of the families of the victims. Business is practically at a standstill, and the town is in mourning.
