Wilmington Police Guard Him Closely Because of Woman's Tale.
Special to The New York Times.
WILMINGTON. Del., Oct. 17.— A threat made by an Italian to shoot Gov. Wilson resulted in a strong police guard at the meeting in the Opera House when the Governor spoke here to-night.
Chief of Police Black this morning received word from Mrs. Sarah Hudson of 800 Lombard Street that her sister, Mrs. Hattie Whitson had heard the threat. She did not know the man's name, but gave his description. He said: "Wilson is coming here, and he will get a bullet through him the same as Roosevelt did. I will put one in him."
The police are said to know the name of the Italian, but they refuse to give it.
