Both Fight With Bayonets.

New York Times 100 years ago today, November 17, 1912:
Turks Dislodged by Montenegrins on Heights of San Giovanni di Medua.
VIENNA, Nov. 16.— A hand-to-hand bayonet fight took place near the port of San Giovanni di Medua during Thursday night when the Montenegrins succeeded in dislodging the Turks from the mountains, dominating the city. According to a dispatch from Dulcigno to the Zeit, several English volunteers fighting on the Montenegrin side were wounded. Sixty Turkish soldiers were taken prisoners.
The Turkish garrison of San Giovanni di Medua has been reinforced by the arrival of big guns, according to a dispatch to the Reichspost. The hope of the Montenegrins that they would be able to capture the port has, therefore, diminished.
Scutari where the Turkish garrison is making such a big fight has received fresh provisions, sufficient to last forty days.
The Turkish commandant of Scutari declares, according to the Neue Freie Presse, that he will hold the fortress until the last man of the Turkish garrison has fallen, even should the Ottoman government order him to surrender. He says he will certainly not fall alive into the hands of the Montenegrins.
