Will Protect Americans.

New York Times 100 years ago today, November 12, 1912:
WASHINGTON, Nov. 11.— The European powers most intimately concerned is the Balkan situation have undertaken to extend projection to Americans in Turkey.
The American Embassies in Europe were intrusted, when informing the various nations of the decision of the United States to send the cruisers Tennessee and Montana to the coast of Asiatic Turkey, to inquire whether provision had been made or was contemplated in the interest of American citizens in Turkey. Replies indicate that instructions issued by Great Britain and Russia anticipated the desires of the American Government.
The cutter Unagala was to-day instructed to wait at Port Said for orders from Ambassador Rockhill at Constantinople.
