Minister de la Fuente Says Doctor Is Safe in Mexico.
Special Cable to The New York Times.
VERA CRUZ, Mexico, April 11.— The steamship Morro Castle is still in port owing to the prevalence of a norther. The District Judge has orders to detain Dr. Vasquez Gomez, but he has taken no action, as detention by force is not convenient.
The Minister of Communcations arrived here by special train from Mexico City early to-day. Minister de la Fuente is a warm friend of the doctor. Through the day he talked continually with the fleeing politician. The Minister is trying to convince Dr. Gomez that he is perfectly safe in this country and should not leave it. The doctor refuses so far to be convinced.
Capt. Huff of the Ward liner will surrender Dr. Gomez only on an official warrant.
