New York Times 100 years ago today, November 18, 1912:
Fund for Relief of Wounded Soldiers Swelled to $95,541.
Atlantis, the Greek daily newspaper, published in New York, started an American fund for the relief of wounded soldiers and families of soldiers left destitute by war at the request of the Crown Princess less than thirty days ago.
Up to the close of this week, when a separate fund was started by a committee of American women, exclusively for the relief of Greek women and children who were dying of starvation or cold as the result of the depredations of the retreating Turks, the Atlantis fund, contributed by its readers, amounted to $95.541.
