Gloom In Berlin.

New York Times 100 years ago today, February 17, 1913:
No Hope of Improvement Till the Political Outlook Changes.
Special Cable to The New York Times.
BERLIN, Feb. 16.— Another week has passed without the slightest indication of any improvement on the Boerse, and it becomes increasingly apparent that no betterment can be hoped for as long as the political situation remains in the present troubled state. Attention is now directed to the Bulgarian, Rumanian, and Russian situations, and traders are pessimistic over the outlook.
Depressing market factors were continued in the unfavorable situation in copper and recessions in New York, coupled with fears that the American Government were preparing further anti-trust prosecutions.
The money market stiffened further, and hope of a discount reduction in the near future has vanished.
