Razing Mexican Flag a Prank.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 19, 1913:
TUCSON, Ariz., July 18.— The Fourth of July international flag incident here was minimized by an investigation completed to-day by Frederick Simpich, American Consular agent in Nogales, Sonora. The hauling down of a Mexican flag from the Mexican Consulate was described as a "juvenile prank" by officials here whom Mr. Simpich interviewed. It developed that the Mayor had expressed regret informally to the Mexican Consul. The inquiry was ordered by the State Department in Washington.
