Rebels Threaten Muscat — Britain Sends Warships and Troops.
SIMLA, July 8.— A holy war was declared to-day on the Sultan of the independent State of Omam, Southeastern Arabia, by Sheik Abdulla.
The rebels, who have been fighting the troops of Sultan Seyyid Feysil bin Turki, have been victorious in a number of encounters and have taken several of the Sultan's strongholds. They are now threatening Muscat, the capital, a seaport of 60,000 inhabitants.
Three British warships have been sent to Muscat to protect British interests, and a regiment of Rajput infantry has been ordered there from India.
