Rumor Germany May Act.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 17, 1913:
Mobile Hears Kaiser Threatens Intervention in Mexico.

    MOBILE, July 16.— It was reported in the commercial district this afternoon that representatives of German cotton houses here had received code cables announcing that if the United States did not interfere for the protection of foreign residents in Mexico Germany would.
    The report that Germany had decided to assume the aggressive if the United States failed to act promptly was circulated widely, and was the subject of much comment.
