Marines Hold Railroad.

New York Times 100 years ago today, September 12, 1912:
Our Forces Command Nicaraguan Line To Occupy Masaya and Granada.
SAN JUAN DEL SUR, Nicaragua, Sept. 11.— A strong force of United States marines holds the railroad between Corinto and Managua. The train service is now regular. The town of Masaya will be occupied by marines to-morrow and Granada the following day. The latter town is strongly held by adherents of Gen. Mena, the rebel lender. No fighting will be permitted at points occupied by the American forces.
The United States cruiser Denver has arrived here, the California sailing for Corinto.
The revolutionary lake steamer Victoria landed a force to-day a short distance north of Rivas and bombarded San George. The bombardment caused great alarm but no serious damage.
