Border Towns Menaced.

New York Times 100 years ago today, March 7, 1913:
Constitutionalistas Plan to Attack Them Simultaneously.
    DOUGLAS, Ariz., March 6.— A plan of the Constitutionalist rebels to attack simultaneously border towns in Sonora was reported to-day to Gen. Ojeda, commanding the Federal garrison at Agua Prieta, opposite Douglas. At once work was begun in throwing up fortifications about the border town. The Huerta soldiers in Agua Prieta number no more than 100, while the new rebels are mobilizing in large numbers in the mountains to the south.

    WASHINGTON, March 6.— It became known to-day that without abating this Government's claim to the right to maintain an efficient army patrolling the Mexican border, the Wilson 'Administration intends to use every proper means to avoid friction with Mexicans across the line. In accord with the disposition to advise President Wilson and Secretary Bryan of the precise conditions along, the border. Brig. Gen. Tasker H. Bliss, commanding the Southern Department of the army, with headquarters in Fort Sam Houston, was ordered to make a tour of inspection.
