Tourists Visit War Zone.

New York Times 100 years ago today, March 11, 1913:
Laconia Passengers Guests of Turkish Government in Constantinople.
A cable was received yesterday at the office of Clark's Tours, in The Times Building, stating that the Laconia, with 600 Americans on board, had arrived at Constantinople. The Turkish Government officials assigned escorts to show the tourists all places of interest in Stamboul and assured them that there was no danger.
The Laconia is the first passenger steamer to pass through the Dardanelles since the outbreak of the Balkan war, and the passengers had an opportunity to see the Turkish army camps and fleet as the liner passed through the straits.
