May Be King Of Albania.

New York Times 100 years ago today, May 11, 1913:
Prince William of Sweden a Keen Sportsman — Wife Very Beautiful.
LONDON, April 26.— It is rumored that Prince William, second son of the King of Sweden, and his wife, Princess Marie, have been selected by the powers of the Triple Entente as the rulers of the new Kingdom of Albania, which is to be formed on the conclusion of peace between Turkey and the Allies.
Princess Marie, who is a daughter of a Russian Grand Duke, is one of the wealthiest princesses in Europe. She is dark and very beautiful, while her high spirits and democratic tendencies have made her the Idol of Sweden.
Prince Wilhelm is in the navy, is extremely tall, and rather like his father in appearance. The Prince is a great sportsman, and a particularly keen lawn tennis player, while the Princess is as keen on games as her husband.
The present Swedish dynasty was founded by Bernadotte, Napoleon's great marshal, who was the son of a French innkeeper. It is said that he was the only man whom Napoleon ever feared.
The throne of Albania is not likely to be a bed of roses, but Prince Wilhelm is believed to be capable of the task of dealing with the turbulent mountaineers.
