Armistice Is Extended

New York Times 100 years ago today, August 5, 1913:
But Rumania Insists That Peace Preliminaries Be Signed Friday.
BUCHAREST, Aug. 4.— A three days' extension of the armistice between the Balkan States was agreed to to-day by the peace delegates of Rumania, Servia, Greece, Montenegro, and Bulgaria.
This action was taken to enable the plenipotentiaries to endeavor to reconcile the differences and claims of the various States.
    M. Majoresco, the Rumanian Premier and permanent President of the conference, in proposing the three days' extension of the armistice, said that no further prolongation would be asked, and that therefore the labors of the conference must be completed by Friday.
It is understood that Rumania is determined that the peace preliminaries shall be signed on Friday, and that the unsettled points, such as the ownership of Istib, Kotchana, Radovishtah, and Strumitza, shall be submitted to the decision of the powers.
It is believed that Greece will retain Kavala.
