Madera Colony Tranquil.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 27, 1913:
Americans There, Consuls Report, Feel "No Unusual Alarm."
WASHINGTON, July 26.— Consul Edwards reported to-day from El Paso that the regular messenger mail carrier who left Madera on July 22 told him all was quiet there, and that no unusual alarm was felt by the inhabitants. Eugene B. Hassler, concerning whom inquiries were made, was reported in Chihuahua, on the way to the United States.
A similar report by messenger from Madera to Chihuahua was wired by American Consul Letcher to the State Department.
