Torreon's Fall Confirmed.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 25, 1913:
Constitutionalists Tell of 1,500 Federal Prisoners.
    EAGLE PASS, Texas, July 24.— Official announcement was made to-day in Constitutionalist headquarters in Piedras Negras of the capture of Torreon, Mexico, by Constitutionalists. Fifteen hundred prisoners, twenty cannon and a large supply of ammunition fell into their hands, the Constitutionalists alleged.
    For an alleged plot against Gov. Carranza, Major Federico Guajuardo and several of his followers have been sentenced to death in Piedras Negras. All were members of the Constitutionalist army.

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas, July 24.— Constitutionalist army officers in Matamoras to-day received word of the Federal, surrender of Torreon. It was said the Torreon Federals had been killing their horses for food. The message confirmed 1,500 as the number of Federal prisoners.
