Democrats Are United.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 18, 1912:
Split in Pennsylvania Central Committee is Healed.
HARRISBURG, Penn., July 17.— Harmony was effected and the reorganization wing of the party was placed in complete control at the meeting of the Democratic State Central Committee here to-day. Walter E. Ritter, who was chosen Chairman by the "regulars" last year and who would still have six months to serve, withdrew in favor of George W. Guthrie of Pittsburgh, who was chosen at the same time by the reorganizers.
In the only contest, William J. Brennan, for many years Democratic leader of Alleghany County and City Chairman of Pittsburgh, and his supporters were refused places in the committee by a large vote.
The question of fusion with the Keystone Party on the State ticket was left to the party's Executive Committee. It was decided to pledge all Senatorial and legislative nominees to support the progressive measures in the State platform and to oppose the re-election of Senator Penrose "or any adherent or representative of the system he now represents."
