"Murder" To Name Wilson.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 18, 1912:
Congressman Hill (Rep.) Says Clark Should Have Been Named.
Special to The New York Times.
SOUTH NORWALK, Conn., July 17.— "The nomination of Wilson was murder; it was assassination. Clark was the best man and should have been named." This was the reply of Congressman E. J. Hill, Republican, of the Fourth Connecticut Congressional District, at his home here to-day when asked what he thought of Mr. Wilson's nomination.
In giving his opinion of Taft's chances for re-election if the Progressives nominate Col. Roosevelt. Congressman Hill said:
"Taft will win. He is getting stronger every day."
The Congressman scored Roosevelt for his part in the Chicago disturbances during the Republican Convention.
