Peace Parley To-day Stirs Balkan Hopes.

New York Times 100 years ago today, December 16, 1912:
But Delegates Are United Against Concessions to Turkey, Says Dr. Daneff.
TALK OF AUSTRIAN BLUFF
Say Her War Preparations Are Not Aimed at Servia, but Due to Internal Unrest.
PARIS, Dec. 15.— The conference which took place to-day between Dr. Daneff, the Bulgarian peace plenipotentiary, and Premier PoincarĂ© will, it is believed, be productive of beneficial results at the London conference. Dr. Daneff had lunch with the French Premier, and later had an extended interview with the Russian Ambassador, M. Iswolksy.
Prior to his departure for London this afternoon, Dr. Daneff said that he was exceedingly happy to have been able to have a conversation with Premier PoincarĂ© before the opening of the negotiations. "We examined together," he said, "all the questions at issue, and on none of them are our views in disagreement."
The Bulgarian representative emphasized the unity of the Balkan States. He outlined the points on which they would treat with Turkey and declared that they would not give way with reference to the cession of Adrianople. In conclusion he said:
"The Balkan States have never received at any time advice or prompting from any great power. They believed that they were acting in the interests of general European peace by preparing by their own means for the settlement of the Orient problem."
