Porfirio Diaz Promises to Stay Away.

New York Times 100 years ago today, March 18, 1913:
NAPLES, Italy, March 17.— Gen. Porfirio Diaz, formerly President of Mexico, received to-day a group of Latin-Americans to whom he reiterated that he had decided to return to Mexico only if it became necessary to organize a National struggle against intervention by a foreign power. The ex-President will leave Naples to-morrow for Rome, where he will be received by King Victor Emmanuel and by Pope Pius X.
