New York Times 100 years ago today, November 6, 1912:
To the Editor of The New York Times:
While the powers feel selfish concern for their own interests in the Balkans, royal women are working at the front, not talking women's rights, but using their God given rights to ease sufferers. The men not boasting of what they believe, are fighting for the cross, and giving their lives to save others from horrible oppression and agony. What do they see ahead? Perhaps it will be given to them to plant on Constantine's great church the sign that Constantine saw in the sky, and these warriors to-day may see as he saw the words, "By this sign conquer!" The powers and the people of the United States, listen, watch, pray.
