Deny They Are Alarmists.

New York Times 100 years ago today, August 22, 1913:
Mexican Officials Tell of Taking Zapata's Last Redoubt.
Dr. L.L. Pardo, editor of the weekly paper, Below The Rio Grande, sent to The Times last evening the following Mexican cable dispatch, with the statement that it had been received from an authorized source, and that it contained the latest information about the campaign in the State of Morelos:
"Reports stating the Mexican Government and Mexican press are favoring the circulation of alarming news are absolutely false. On the contrary, the Mexican press is maintaining an attitude of commendable reserve and dignity, and it has even refused to print news and comments transmitted from the United States tending to complicate the situation.
"The last redoubt of Zapata was captured yesterday by the Federal forces after a terrific battle. This victory puts an end to the campaign in the State of Morelos, which for the last three years had been in revolt."
