Servian Successes.

New York Times 100 years ago today, October 25, 1912:
BELGRADE, Oct. 24.— Official announcement is made here to-night that the Servian forces have occupied besides Novi-Bazar, Pristina, Kumanova, Kratovo, and Kotchana.
Detachments of the Servian Army entered Kumanova this afternoon after annihilating the Turkish batteries. The fighting around that town lasted three days. The Turkish artillery was ineffective.
The taking of the Turkish town of Novi-Bazar was achieved only after three days' severe fighting, during which there was much slaughter both among the Servians and the Turks.
The small town of Strazin, between Egri-Palanka and Kumanova, was captured yesterday by the Servians.
Stories of hard fought encounters with the Arnaut tribesmen and Turkish regulars are told by soldiers who were wounded in the earlier fighting at Prepalatz Pass, forty miles to the South of Nish. Many of these have been brought here for treatment.
The battle lasted thirteen hours. The Turks lost over a thousand killed, while the Servian casualties were also considerable.
