Warships For Caribbean.

New York Times 100 years ago today, October 30, 1912:
Baltimore and Yankton Ordered to Guantanamo and Vera Cruz.
Special to The New York Times.
WASHINGTON, Oct. 29.— The Navy Department is making arrangements to send the cruiser Baltimore and the gunboat Yankton into Caribbean waters within the nest few weeks, to relieve vessels that have been on duty there. The Baltimore will probably be sent to Guantanamo, and the Yankton to Vera Cruz. Another vessel may be sent to look after American interests in Santo Domingo.
No necessity exists for further operations in Nicaragua, and the vessels there are being moved to the northward as rapidly a.s circumstances will permit. Neither the Baltimore nor the Yankton will carry any large number of marines, and it is the understanding here that no exigency is likely to require them.
