Battle Near Matamoras.

New York Times 100 years ago today, February 19, 1913:
Inhabitants Rush to American Side with Their Valuables.
BROWNSVILLE , Texas. Feb. 18.— A battle between Federal forces of unknown strength and rebel troops is reported in progress five miles south of the Mexico border, near the town of Matamoras, which passed into the hands of the revolutionists yesterday.
Anticipating an attack on the city, the 3,000 residents of that place started an exodus into Brownsville to-day, carrying their valuables with them.
