Gomez Proclaimed In North.

New York Times 100 years ago today, February 20, 1913:
Salazar and Other Rebels Name Him Provisional President.
    SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Feb. 19.— Emilio Vasquez Gomez is proclaimed Provisional President of Mexico in a document received here to-day, which bears signatures purporting to be those of Gen. Inez Salazar as "General in Chief of the Revolutionary Forces of the North;" David de la Fuente, "second in command and Chief of the President's staff," and ten other rebel leaders. The document is dated at Palomas, Chihuahua, Feb. 15.
    Gomez is declared in the statement to be the legitimate leader of the resolution.
    The names attached to the document include those of Emilio Campa, as signing for himself, and Gen. Antonio Rojas, Col. José P. Castro, Col. Lazara, Alanis, and Capt. B. Ganu. Campa is described as "revolutionary chief in the State of Durango," Castro as "representative of the rebel forces in the centre of the republic," Alanis as "representing the liberal group of the North," and Ganu as "representing the officers of the rural army of the North."
