Turks Wing An Aeroplane.

New York Times 100 years ago today, February 23, 1913:
Airman Flying Over Adrianople Brought Down by a Shell.
CONSTANTINOPLE, Feb. 22.— A Bulgarian military aeroplane, while reconnoitering over the fortress of Adrianople to-day, was hit by a Turkish shell and fell inside the lines. It was piloted by a Russian officer, Lieut. Nikolas, who was made a prisoner by the Turks.
The report from the Turkish commander does not state whether the airman was injured or not.
