Diaz Predicts Peace and Progress.

New York Times 100 years ago today, February 20, 1913:
By Cable to the Editor of The New York Times.
MEXICO CITY. Feb. 19. I am confident that the situation is the beginning of peace and progress for the republic. There are great difficulties created by the deficiencies of the previous Government, but I am certain that there will be effective co-operation of all social classes for the rapid re-establishment of peace and the normalizing of public services.
The lives and properties of citizens and foreigners will be fully guaranteed. To this end Gen. Huerta, the head of the executive government, will devote himself effectively, and the General in Chief of the army will cooperate with him.      FELIX DIAZ.
