Deadlocked On Navy Bill.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 23, 1912:
Democrats to Caucus To-day on the Battleship Programme.
WASHINGTON, July 22.— Whether there will be built this year one or two battleships or none will be the principal subject for discussion by the Democratic caucus of the House Wednesday. The call for the caucus was ordered to-day.
It followed on the report of the conferrees of the naval appropriation bill that they were hopeless deadlocked and that under the respective instructions of the Senate and the House, there appeared to be no hope of a compromise in sight.
