New York Times 100 years ago today, July 19, 1912:
Toulon Has Rumor of Torpedo Boat Destroyer Cut In Two.
    TOULON, July 18.— It is rumored that the French torpedo boat destroyer Cavalier, participating in the manoeuvres off Corsica, has been cut in two in a collision, and most of the crew drowned.
    The naval authorities declare that they have no news on the subject.
