The Fastest Dirigible.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 23, 1912:
German War Department Buys the Latest Zeppelin Airship.
    BERLIN, July 23.— The latest military airship of the Zeppelin rigid type was taken over by the War Department to-day after an endurance and speed trial lasting eighteen hours.
    The airship developed a speed of forty-nine miles an hour and is considered the fastest dirigible in the world. It has been named the "Z III," and is to be stationed at the Fortress of Metz, near the French frontier.
