The Mikado Weaker.

New York Times 100 years ago today, July 26, 1912:
Latest Bulletin Says He Is Extremely and Increasingly Tired.
    TOKIO. Friday, July 20.— The following bulletin on the condition of the Emperor, issued at noon, indicates that his Majesty is now suffering from exhaustion:
    The Emperor's temperature is 98.7, pulse 110, strong, irregular; respiration 32, Irregular. His Majesty is extremely and increasingly tired.
    The bulletin issued at 6 o'clock this morning announced that no change had occurred. The temperature of the patient at that hour was 100.4 and the pulse 100.
    A bulletin issued at 12:30 P.M. yesterday said;
    As a result of an examination of his Majesty at 10 o'clock this morning his temperature was found to be 98.7 degrees and his pulse 105 to 110. He showed continual restlessness, and his fatigue is increasing.
    At 5 P.M. it was announced that there had been no change in file Emperor's condition. At 8 P.M. a bulletin was issued saying:
    The Emperor's condition is unchanged, except that his pulse has been reduced to 100.
    The similarity of the bulletins posted in the past twenty-four hours is regarded as ominous. The nature of the Emperor's malady prevents him from taking much nourishment, and as a result he has grown weaker day by day.
    A minister of the household said this morning that he had not visited the palace since midnight, when his Majesty was sleeping.
