Garros Travels from Tunis to Sicily, a Distance of 160 Miles.
By Marconi Transatlantic Wireless Telegraph to The New York Times.
ROME, Dec. 18.— Roland G. Garros, the French aviator, started this morning in an attempt to fly from Tunis to Rome via Naples and the coast of Italy, a distance of over 400 miles.
Garros left Cape Bon, Tunis, at 10 o'clock and reached Trapani, Sicily, at 4:30 P.M. He will continue his flight toward Rome to-morrow morning.
Special arrangements were made for the flight. Five torpedo boats cruised along the route. The aeroplane is fitted with buoys which light up automatically on coming into contact with the water.
