Was To Kill King Victor.

New York Times 100 years ago today, December 23, 1912:
Anarchist Attempted Suicide Instead of Carrying Out Mission.
By Marconi Transatlantic Wireless Telegraph to The New York Times.
LONDON, Monday. Dec. 23.— The Daily News's correspondent at Rome says:
"Enrico Dalferro, an Anarchist, has attempted suicide at Persiceto, near Bologna, after being chosen by lot to kill King Victor Emmanuel. Either his courage failed or he had spent the money given to him for his journey to Rome.
"Dalferro, whose skull was fractured by a revolver bullet, refuses to answer questions. Detectives, however, have sequestered documents which prove the existence of an extensive plot."
