New York Times 100 years ago today, July 13, 1912:
MARSEILLES, July 12.—A large number of wives of the striking seamen held a demonstration to-day against the increased price of bread. They were soon joined by their husbands, and prolonged disorders ensued. There were frequent clashes with the police and troops, the strikers using stones freely. Many on both sides were hurt.
