Again Ask Mexico To Pay.

New York Times 100 years ago today, September 22, 1912:
$105,000,000 Manning-Mackintosh Claim Forwarded to Ernesto Madero.
The Manning-Mackintosh claim of $105,000,000, Mexican currency, against the Mexican Government, transferred by E. D. Mackintosh just before his death to the Mexican Securities and Construction Company, was forwarded yesterday to Ernesto Madero, Secretary of the treasury of Mexico, with demand for immediate payment or an assurance of negotiations to that end.
This claim was presented to the Mexican Government some time ago, but was not made public until Sept. 7, when a full account of its history was published in The New York Times.
This publication and a telegram to the Madero administration in Mexico City brought the reply to The Times that the Manning-Mackintosh claim had been thrown out in 1886. This was followed by a declaration from Alexander & Green that the claim would be pushed regardless of the message from Ernesto Madero.
It is said that the presentation to the Mexican Government of the demand takes cognizance of the telegram sent by Ernesto Madero., and makes an answer to that message a part of the present demand made upon the Mexican Government.
