Germany Gathering Gold.

New York Times 100 years ago today, April 26, 1913:
Imperial Bank Has $250,000,000 — Prepares for Enlarged "War Chest."

    BERLIN, April 25.— It is announced to-night that the gold reserve in the Imperial Bank reached this week, for the first time on record, a total of $250,000,000. The bank has been making extraordinary efforts in the past few weeks to augment the gold reserve on account of the forthcoming increase in the war chest, which will be raised from $30,000,000 to $90,000,000. The bank's gold reserve this month has been increased by $20,000,000.
