Non-stop 513-Mile Flight.

New York Times 100 years ago today, April 25, 1913:
Gilbert, French Aviator, Beats All Cross-Country Records.
PARIS, April 24.— Eugene Gilbert, the French aviator, to-day beat all records for a continuous cross-country flight, flying from Villacoublay to Vittoria, Spain. The distance between the two places is about 825 kilometres (513 miles,) which Gilbert covered in eight and a half hours.
After a short rest Gilbert ascended again. He came down at Medina del Campo, landing awkwardly and damaging the wire stays of his monoplane. He was not hurt, and made repairs without difficulty.
