Maniac Near King George.

Swallows Half a Sovereign and Tries to Jump Through Window.

LONDON, April 21.— An extraordinary incident at Crewe in the course of the visit of the King and Queen to-day caused momentary alarm.
After the King and Queen had left the station a young man was seen moving suspiciously about the platform. He was accosted by railway detectives, and appeared unable to give any account of himself. He was taken to the office, but broke away and rushed to one of the trains.
He became so violent that it was deemed necessary for his own safety to remove him to the police station, where he swallowed half a sovereign, tried to swallow his spectacles, and then tried to leap through the window. His throat was cut in a shocking manner.
