Austrian Emperor Is 82.

New York Times 100 years ago today, August 19, 1912:
Lunatic Stabs Vienna Bishop on the Way to Celebrate Birthday Mass.
VIENNA, Aug. 18.— The eighty-second birthday of the Emperor Francis Joseph was celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the country to-day. His Majesty, who is in good health, is staying at Ischl, a fashionable watering place of Upper Austria, where he received numerous congratulations.
The entire imperial family was present at a state banquet held this afternoon. Prince Leopold of Bavaria toasted the Emperor, who replied briefly. Each guest received a souvenir in the shape of a silver statuette of his Majesty.
While the Suffragan Bishop of Vienna, Dr. Pfluger, was proceeding to St. Stephen's Church this morning to celebrate mass in honor of the Emperor he was stabbed in the shoulder. His injuries, though serious, are not dangerous.
The Bishop's assailant, a man named Prinz, who at one time was confined in a lunatic asylum, was arrested. He confessed that he intended to stab the Prince Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Nagl, but Dr. Pfluger reached the church first.
