New York Times 100 years ago today, August 15, 1912:
During Luncheon They Talk About the Political Situation Here.
By Marconi Transatlantic Wireless Telegraph to The New York Times.
BERLIN, Aug. 14.— President Nicholas Murray Butler of Columbia University was entertained at luncheon by the Kaiser and Kaiserin at the castle of Wilhelmshohe to-day.
Dr. Butler is the first distinguished American with whom the Emperor has had an opportunity of talking since the recent political developments in the United States, and his Majesty embraced the opportunity of informing himself on the Presidential situation, as viewed by Dr. Butler.
Dr. Butler is expected in Berlin later in the week, when he will be the recipient of many attentions from official and university circles.
