Government Charges Sals's Owners with Violating Immigration Laws.
LOS ANGELES, Cal., Aug. 5.—The German steamer Sals was seized by United States customs officials to-day and a libel placed against her as a result of an alleged violation of the immigration law by her sister ship, the Osiris, on May 25 last.
It was alleged that the Osiris imported twenty Chilean laborers to unload cargo here, which is a violation of the immigration laws, punishable by a fine of $1,000 for each alien so engaged. She sailed before action could be taken, hence the seizure of her sister ship.
