New York Times 100 years ago today, August 3, 1912:
Soldiers Send Ultimatum, but Parliament Refuses to Dissolve.
Special Cable to The New York Times.
LONDON, Saturday, Aug 3.— A Constantinople dispatch to The Dally Telegraph says:
"In the best-informed circles it is reported that the Albanian insurgents, who are now said to number 100,000, have sent to the Government an ultimatum. demanding dissolution within forty-eight hours.
"The Government made effort to conciliate the majority in the chamber by proposing to explain the situation to a delegation of ten deputies, producing all the telegrams that have been received and proving to them the extreme urgency for patriotic reasons of their agreeing to dissolution. This proposal, however, was rejected.
"In diplomatic circles the situation is regarded as extremely serious."
