One Battleship The Plan.

House Democrats Likely to Accept a Proffered Senate Compromise.
    WASHINGTON, Aug. 12.— A fourth Democratic House caucus was called today for Wednesday to consider the battleship question. Fully 100 Democratic members have subscribed to a proffered Senate compromise to accept provision for one battleship instead of two, which the Senate amendment to the Naval Appropriation bill called for. It is expected that the caucus will agree to the compromise and that the vessel will be the most formidable warship built.
