To Dissolve Parliament.

New York Times 100 years ago today, August 5, 1912:
Turkish Cabinet and Senate Act Under Pressure of Army.
CONSTANTINOPLE, Aug. 4.— The Cabinet and Senate held a prolonged secret joint meeting to-day and voted for the dissolution of the Chamber of Deputies on the ground that the present extraordinary session of the Chamber, being a continuation of the previous session and having completed its term, now lapses. It is expected that an irade, ordering dissolution and new elections within three months, will be issued to-morrow.
Whether the Chamber will acquiesce in this ingenious scheme remains to be seen, but the tension has become so great that the Government is obliged to take prompt action. Strong forces of troops and police are guarding the precincts of the Parliament.
